inspiration everything

Here are my first two art journal cards. They are both pretty shabby looking. I don't generally tend to make things that way, but that's how they turned out! Not too sure what I think of the yellow one, it really doesn't do anything for me, but that's not supposed to be the point with this project anyway. It's more of enjoying the creative release and trying new techniques. On the yellow card I did a resist technique with rubber cement and ink, but my rubber cement was a little dried out and it didn't work the greatest. I am really enjoying making these cards.
2peas blog challenge:
Things That Inspire Me- Lately, everything has been inspring me. My kids, my husband, shopping, ads, viewing the 2peas gallery, checking out blogs. The Bible has really been inspiring me in my everyday life and artistically, I am hoping to do a version of these cards with all scriptures and also mybe some plaques for the wall.
I have got to go, but I am working on a bunch of things right now so hopefully I'll have some pics to post this week! Happy Tuesday!

Elsie's new line

Love Elsie's new lines!!! I don't know if I like 'Betty' or 'Roxie' better. She just posted pics on her blog (link at the side).
This pic is of my brother playing football last year. I am so proud of him and how dedicated he is to the sport.

fun idea from emily http://embers.typepad.com/e/

1. paint your playing card with gesso and a layer of acrylic (you can skip the gesso if you sand the card instead.
2. fingerpaint blobs of vaseline/petroleum jelly onto the dried paint. gently paint another colour over the top. when the paint is dry, wipe with a paper towel and the vaseline slides away, revealing the base colour. use a wet wipe if you have any extra greasiness that need to be gone!

two fun projects

I didn't get alot done last night because my sister in law stopped by for a couple hours, but we had a really nice talk, so that was cool. Anyways, I had time this morning and I finished two projects, they were both really fun and pretty easy. I'll have to pick up some more supplies for the boxes, I really liked the way they turned out and plan on making some for gifts.

art journal challenge

Image Transfers:
if you want to try this, its easy and fun! you need to get some colour photocopies made of photos/images (at a printing place, at home won't work). you put the photocopy face down onto the space you want to transfer and 'paint' acetone (nail polish remover) on the back, then immediately burnish with a metal spoon. lift it off and it (hopefully!) will have transferred. definitely get more than one copy made up to allow for practice and who knows what!

Also from that blog is an ongoing art journal challenge. It seems like alot of fun. It involves taking a deck of cards and covering them with paper or paint. Each week she will prompt a theme to alter your card with. So if you do one every week, you will have a years worth of cards and deck will be complete. I started covering mine with paper yesterday, but have yet to do a challenge.

My mom and brother are coming over for supper tonight, then a bunch of other people will be coming over for Bible reading.

Happy Tuesday!

recipe

I got this recipe in my email today from scrapmiser. I haven't tried it yet, but can't wait to get the chance.

PAPER CLAY:

INGREDIENTS: 1 cup cornstarch, 2 cups baking soda, 1 1/4 cups coldwater.

METHOD: Sift dry ingredients into saucepan. Add water. Cook on medium heat for approx 5 minutes (stir continuously) or until the mixturethickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. Removefrom the heat and place onto wax paper. Once the mixture is cool enough to handle knead for at least 5 minutes.

COLOURING: Knead in a small drop of the desired paint colour using apaint that is safe for scrapbooking purposes. OR carefully paint thefinished product after it has dried (be careful you don't use toomuch paint as re adding liquid will take the mixture back to itspre dried characteristics).

STORAGE: Store in an air tight container.

We had a great time at the birthday party yesterday! The kids had so much fun. It was nice to see the whole family (almost!).

My MIL bought me some beautiful flowers today, that just makes me happy!
For the 2peas blog challenge:
I got started in scrapbooking in 2002 ( I think), after my mom started getting into it. I loved all the papers and embellishments and have been in love with looking at designs and different layouts since then. My kids are a great inspiration for pages, although I'm so far behind that I have barely done any pages of our second son - and he'll be two in 2 weeks! I have always been artistic, but never found a way to express that I really enjoyed. I would say that I am just now starting to get really serious about the hobby.

digi scrapping and 2006 year in review

So, 2006 is done and here's what we did:
January- Perry and I went to Mont Tremblant in Quebec. We left New Year's day and saw a Medieval Times show in Toronto and then stayed in a hotel somewhere along the way. Then we spent four days in Quebec. We went skating on the river, skiing (well, he did, I fell on the first run and really hurt my back - it was only my second time, and I'm not very good...), we also went snowmobiling in the mountains (that got my blood pressure going) and we just had a lot of fun. On our way home, we got a call that we had a new niece!
February- Gavin had his first birthday party.
March- I dunno...
April- Easter
May- Lots of fun outside. We had a lot of friends (I mean alot!) visit from the States and we had a big BBQ for everyone at our house. Everyone helped my Grandma with her roof.
June- Lots more playing outside, went to the beach, football games (my brothers), the park.
July- Same old summer stuff, zoo, beach, BBQ's, a wedding, Cherryfest.
August- Did we ever do anything different?
September- Put our house up for sale and sold it!
October- Went to Arizona for a few days! Packed up the house.
November- Moved into our new house.
December- Christmas! Took Ethan to see Charlotte's Web at the theatre for his 3rd brithday and he loved it! Lots of fun!
That was 2006- I think (I may be forgetting some things!).
I'm not really into digital scrapbooking, but I just came across these that I had done a while ago. Anyway, I should probably get off the computer and do a little cleaning (you know, the fun stuff...lol). Just thought I'd share these pages. Have a happy weekend!

me, again...

Just thought I'd post this layout that I just finished, before I go to bed. The colour of the green isn't trim isn't really flourescent, just scanned that way. I'm actually very happy with this page. It is a scraplift from lazschu (http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=1062557)on the 2peas site.

our place and the people in it

These are pics of things in my house that I love. I just couldn't add all the 'things', without adding the people, too. We just moved into this house about two months ago and although we've had a little trouble with flooding, I love it! The first picture is our cat, Pipsqueak. The second, my husband and I. And the next two are our goofy boys! The rest are just things around the house. I was inspired by Elsie ( http://elsieflannigan.blogspot.com/ )to post these pics.

favourite restaurants

2peas blog challenge:
My top 5 restaurants would be 1-Swiss Chalet (mmmm....chicken), 2-Andy's (a local place with the best panzerotti's) 3-Harvey's (fast food...) 4-Chip trucks under the Bluewater Bridge 5-???? maybe John's or Smiley's (both local, sort of)

We are going to my nephew's Birthday party tomorrow. He just turned 3. The kids will have alot of fun, I'm sure.

Hoping to get more scrapping done tonight. The picture is an altered clipboard that I made for my Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt of their new dog. His name is Sammy and he is soooo cute!

new layout

The kids are at Grandma's, so I get to sleep in tomorrow! I've been scrapping and this is one thing I've done. I'm actually really happy with it. I know it's nothing spectacular, but I like it!

lots going on...

So, our basement in our new house (new to us, anyway) is flooding. And it's going to cost alot to fix. So that kinda stinks...

But, I have been doing alot of scrapping. I've been having soo much fun, Inever really realised how fun it was. I've always taken it too seriously.
Here's a page I did today as I had free moments here and there. I never like the look of my pages scanned as much as in real life... Ethan looks nothing like himself in this picture, but it's still cute!

Still looking for my style, it's gotta be out there somewhere.

Fun stuff!

So, I tried the acrylic paint thing on some pics and it is sooo much fun to do. Just easy and fun and no worries about things looking perfect because it's not supposed to.

Ideas

Well, thanks to Scrapmiser ( www.cheap-scrapbooking-ideas.blogspot.com ) on the 2peas message boards I have some new ideas.

Apparently, you can use a hair straightener as an embossing gun. Who knew? I've been wanting to try embossing, but don't want to spend the money right now. So, now I can just buy some powders and see if this works for me.

Punch little circles out of paper and cover with glass finish and voila - custom brads (sort of!)

I'm going to try making a photo album with pics that I will paint the backgrounds with acrylics and journal, etc. right on the paint. Can't wait to try it. I accidently ordered two copies of 100 pictures, so I can try this worry free with the doubles and just have FUN!

I love ready Elsie Flannigan's blog, very inspiring. I love her photos and wish I could take some like that. http://elsieflannigan.blogspot.com/
This pic is a layout of my son taking his first sled ride two years ago. He loved it! I just love the winter colours in it, very refreshing.

looking....

I am starting to get serious about scrapping. So much to learn. I have not been too happy with any pages lately, I need to keep experimenting to find my style. I have started an inspiration journal and am looking at lots and lots of layouts online and in magazines. A little information overload, I think. Well, hopefully I'll find my way to do this.
